L. is a condom company with a cause; to support women globally by focusing on their sexual empowerment.
We create the highest quality condoms for the modern consumer in safety, comfort, and design. Our brand represents a movement for consumers' choice to support better sex, a better cause, and a better world. Core to our company mission, L. partners with development organizations to support women and HIV/AIDS prevention.
For every condom purchased, one is distributed in a developing country.
L. was founded by Talia Frenkel, a photojournalist, who is out to change what she saw through her lens by creating an opportunity for daily actions to make a difference.
Condoms are the most effective technology in HIV/AIDS prevention as well as a simple form of birth control that provides greater quality of life. L. works with partners on the ground to take a holistic approach to promoting correct condom usage. More than just distribuuion, L. supports education, economic and cultural programs to support women and drive HIV/AIDS prevention.

Photography has always had a great influence on me.
Particularly, the ability of photography to cross boundaries of language and culture, tell stories and shed light on critical social issues. These are the things that inspired me to be a photographer.
My camera quickly became my passport to places I might otherwise have never visited. It became my introduction to people I may have never had the privilege to know. The world I'v seen through my lens has been vast and varied. I have photographed tsunamis, earthquakes, fires and floods for the Red Cross - and documented human rights issues for the United Nations and other international NGOs. This work has taken me to some of the most desolate, destroyed, and remote destinations on earth.
It was in my job as a photographer that my mind was first opened to the human cost of HIV/AIDS. My assignments documenting the effects of this epidemic, specifically its toll on women and girls, left me with an anger that I needed to channel in a productive way.
These assignments were different from many of my others; they were not caused by unforeseen natural disasters, but by a completely preventable and treatable disease. Every day, countless lives are lost to a disease prevented by something that can be bought in any western convenience store. It is unacceptable to me that condoms - a basic tool for HIV prevention and contraception - are not available to all. Where someone lives in the world should not determine whether they live or die from this disease.
I have since dedicated myself to the making of L. Safe sex is our human right, and L. is an option for us to take that stand in a way that resonates with our day-to-day lives.
At our core, L. is about creating a better product for all of us. One that utilizes thoughtful design while supporting programs that directly contribute to creating safer sex options for everyone.
This movement is about the kind of love that can change the lives of millions around the world.
That love begins with L.
